This booklet was originally written in 1999 as a reply to slander campaigns against Vladimir Lenin. It was published as a preface to a new edition of Lenin’s State and Revolution. It is an excellent introduction to Lenin’s life and work.
Per-Åke Westerlund explains the historical context within which State and Revolution was written. He also deals with the allegations of Lenin’s critics and those who oppose Lenin’s Bolshevik party and the October Revolution of 1917.
Westerlund contrasts the slander of Lenin’s critics with the actions of the Bolsheviks. He also exposes the myth that Bolshevism led directly to Stalinism and the crimes of the Stalinist dictatorship.
Per-Åke Westerlund is a longstanding member of the leadership of Rättvisepartiet Socialisterna (Socialist Justice Party). Rättvisepartiet Socialisterna is the Socialist Party’s sister organisation in Sweden.
Westerlund has been involved in many campaigns against racism, fascism and deportations. He has also written two books on the lessons from those struggles. He is an elected member of the International Executive Committee of the Committee for a Workers’ International (CWI), the global socialist organisation to which the Socialist Party is affiliated.
